visagens [VSGNS] is an authorial series under construction that began as grouping in 2018, but some of the visual elements already floated over my work for a while.

- I confess that I did not find the key
Before it all, it was a methodically repeated exercise: wake up, make a coffee, sit and draw - without look at the cell phone or internet - and each paper was posted on the front wall
It took a while till I was used to them. I felt it weird, lost, and at the same time it make me feel thoughtful and curious. Then I kept this exercise even without knowing why or for what I was doing it.
A dialog starts bit by bit as each line directed the next move and vice versa. On this process i learn to accept it and give up on what I believed to be a “good drawing” or even the meaning of it all.
Over time I started editing, grouping and modify the drawings, which led to other possibles developments, as write about it (I believe that thinking is drawing too). And it began a be part of the creative process
That dialog with the drawings went deeper and expand itself slowly. Other peoples and places joint the conversation and that exposure made me percept new nuances of the work.

One of that new ways to deal with the series is like a TATTOO FLASH - as we call the drawings sheets ready to get tattooed.
Ever year I organize the drawings as a PDF available to download, and of course, get tattooed.
As a tattoo, they gain new contexts, formats and meanings, the lines flow and adapt on the body, and they can be mixed, combined, re-created and repeated.
A drawing finds a body in motion and from there, follow another life.
I like to see how the same drawing takes on another force in the body, and in different bodies, different perceptions too. And even if they are repeated, they will never be the same.
as digital media they expand over new networks through time and space. The drawings discover what they could be in that community, and it’s so diverse as the community itself.
In 2022 I’m exploring the visagens series also as #NFT and I’ll be minting it on some platforms as TEIA, OpenSea and Foundation, where you can follow the project for updates.
